What Should I Expect During An IPL Treatment?
An IPL photofacial is conducted in our Gillette, WY office in around 20 – 30 minutes in one of our private treatment rooms. To begin, the technician will clean and dry the area to be treated before covering your eyes for protection. The IPL treatment is performed using a handheld wand that passes over the skin while emitting pulses of light energy. Many patients experience only mild discomfort, which is temporary.
There is little to no recovery time for this procedure so you may leave immediately after your session. Your skin may be a little swollen and pink, but this will subside on its own in about a day and can be covered with makeup. Allure Medical Spa suggests patients apply a moisturizing cream to decrease any irritation and promote healing. It may also help to take an anti-inflammatory medication to reduce swelling. Within several days, the blemishes under the skin will come to the surface and begin to flake away. It is important to keep your skin protected from the sun at all times after an IPL photofacial treatment and to not pick at it during the peeling process. While you will see visible improvements after the first treatment, you'll get ideal results with multiple sessions. We recommend approximately 3 – 6 sessions scheduled about once a month.
