What Should I Expect During A Laser Hair Removal Treatment?
During your appointment, you will be asked to lie down in a private treatment room to wash the areas of your body needing hair removal to get rid of oil, dirt, and residue. During the procedure, a technician will slightly stretch the area to create a direct path between the laser and the hair follicle root. The Icon laser's energy will target and disable the hair follicle, which prevents it from growing back. Typically, you will need to get 3 – 5 sessions over 3 – 4 weeks to achieve optimal results. Your treatments will be spaced out in order to give the affected areas a chance to recover. This also allows time for hair follicles that were in the dormant phase of growth to cycle into the phase of active growth so the laser can be more effective. The specialized laser technology we use at Allure Medical Spa is able to target only the hair follicle, preserving the skin and other tissue in the treatment area.
While the treatment is mostly gentle, treated areas of your skin may feel like they have a mild sunburn. After your treatment, you are free to resume all normal activities, but you should refrain from strenuous activity or extended time outdoors for a period of 24 hours to let the treated skin heal. We suggest soothing creams or cold packs to deal with any mild discomfort following your session.
